ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN

The International Scientific Committee of the 6th World Congress Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery now invites the submission of abstracts for digital posters or oral presentations.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Programme Committee reminds attendees that the material deemed appropriate for presentation, should have the following characteristics:

• Original and new scientific work.
• Chosen abstracts will be presented in a digital poster session.
• Outstanding abstracts will be considered for oral presentation.

ABSTRACT PREPARATION

Abstracts submitted must adhere to the following specifications:

• Abstracts are to be authored, co-authored and must be limited to 300 words under the headings of background/hypothesis, materials and methods, results, conclusions.
• Abstracts must be submitted in English.
• Abstracts must be submitted in WORD .doc or .docx format.
• Abstract title should be typed in bold upper/lower case. The title should define the topic and contain no abbreviations.
• In the body of the abstract, standard abbreviations need not be defined; other abbreviations and acronyms should be defined on first use.
• Generic names for pharmaceuticals, biologics and medical devices should be used in place of trade names. Trade names should only be used if equivalent products from multiple manufacturers are being compared.
• Capitalise all trade names.
• Italicise scientific names.
• Overly commercial abstracts will not be accepted.
• Do not include graphics or photographs; tables are acceptable.
• All text should be 10pt Arial.
• Submissions may have up to 10 authors. Lead author's name should appear first.
• List the institutional and professional affiliations of all authors.

SUCCESSFUL AUTHORS

• • Notifications of acceptance will be sent on 31 August 2012.
• • Authors whose abstracts are accepted must register for the Congress before 31 October 2012. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from the programme.
• • All accepted abstracts will be published in the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa and South African Heart Journal.
